A Lifelong Connection to Stone, Light, and Healing
The stones have always called to me.
As far back as kindergarten, I remember feeling drawn to certain rocks on my walk to the bus stop. I was especially fascinated by stones containing ancient fossilized seashells. I would gaze into their beautiful geometric patterns, knowing they were somehow special, even though I didn't yet understand why. Before long, I had quite a collection.
Not much has changed.
To this day you'll find stones in my pockets, in the cup holders of my car, beside my bed, and surrounding my front door. They remind me to stay grounded and connected to the Earth. At the same time, my love of crystals has always represented my connection to the heavens, higher consciousness, and the unseen. For me, healing comes from honoring both—remaining deeply rooted in the Earth while staying open to something greater.
Years ago, when I was offering energy work, I would place large crystals on my clients during their sessions. Today those same crystals are thoughtfully positioned throughout my studio, gently directing their energy toward the massage table.
Now I'm creating what has become my most ambitious project yet—a large suspended crystal healing light that will hang above the table.
What began as a simple idea to improve upon a healing light I once experienced has evolved into something far beyond what I imagined. I built a custom wooden frame that supports large quartz crystals pointing toward the table. They are set in resin infused with real copper. Around the central quartz are pieces of apophyllite, while the interior features beautiful slabs of selenite. I embedded 24-karat gold leaf into the resin and added carefully chosen gemstones and minerals around the perimeter. Every material has been selected with healing, beauty, and intention in mind.
As the project evolved, so did the vision. I first imagined illuminating each crystal with a different colored light to correspond with the chakras. Then another thought arrived...
What if, instead of colored lights, natural sunlight passing through the quartz created real rainbows throughout the room?
I still don't know exactly how the final design will unfold, and I rather enjoy that part of the creative process.
One unexpected challenge came when incandescent bulbs became difficult to find in California. Personally, I've never loved LED lighting. Besides preferring the warmth of incandescent light, I wanted something that felt softer and more natural for the healing space. After quite a bit of searching, I discovered that incandescent oven bulbs are still available, so I designed a vanity-style light bar that allows me to use them. Sometimes creativity simply means finding another path.
The piece has become surprisingly large—and surprisingly heavy! Installing it will certainly be an adventure.
But I already know one thing.
The finished crystal light will become part sculpture, part intention, and part healing companion. It reflects everything I love about nature, beauty, craftsmanship, and the quiet magic that can exist when we create with our hearts.
What started as a simple project has become a multi-layered labor of love. That's how many of my creations seem to happen.
